Vitznau lies in an idyllic bay of Lake Lucerne at the foot of the Rigi. This holiday resort in central Switzerland is a popular starting point for numerous excursions around the lake, primarily however up the famous Rigi, lookout point and walkers’ paradise: a rack railway leads from Vitznau to Rigi Kulm.

The small holiday resort of Weggis lies at an altitude of 435 metres on the shore of Lake Lucerne and at the foot of the renowned Rigi. The region on the southern flank of the «Queen of the mountains» is often termed the ‘Riviera’ of central Switzerland. A panoramic cableway leads up from Weggis to Rigi-Kaltbad.
