It’s worthwhile leaving your car here and enjoying the train ride, the like of which you will not easily find anywhere else. You will travel along Lake Geneva through one of Switzerland’s most scenic regions. Later on the train will take you through the beautiful Rhône Valley in the Canton of Valais up to Visp where you will catch the Matterhorn Gotthard train to Zermatt. The Matterhorn becomes visible for the first time as soon as you enter the station square.

Discover a natural paradise of the highest class. The Gornergrat railway – the highest open-air cog railway in Europe – carries passengers from Zermatt up to the 3,089-metre Gornergrat. With an alpine panorama taking in 29 peaks topping 4,000 metres (including the Matterhorn and the Dufourspitze, Switzerland's highest summit), the views could not be more spectacular.

Get closer to this world on the Gornergrat. Aiming for the mountains? Then the Gornergrat railway is for you. Winding its way up the hillside, the 40-minute ride provides wonderful views of the Matterhorn, and once at the top, take time to admire the views, before setting off on one of the many wonderful hiking paths. Or choose from four very different mountain biking routes.
