To the north of Bellinzona are the picturesque valleys of Blenio, the
Leventina with the Bedretto valley, and Rivera, with their impressive
mountain scenery.
High peaks, densely wooded slopes and villages
clinging to hillsides - as you ascend, the forests of chestnut trees
are slowly replaced by pine trees, and these in turn by alpine meadows.
The "Via Crucis" in Biasca
This "Way of the Cross" leading to the Roman Petronilla Chapel, dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, takes around 30 minutes from Biasca, through beautiful forests of chestnut trees and attractive views.
The "Curzùtt - San Barnàrd"-
The conservation of the hamlet of Curzùtt, close to Bellinzona, is under way - a youth hostel was recently opened in the village. The area also offers themed walks, included a tour of the nearby San Barnàrd church (end of the 11th - beginning of the 12th century), a national monument.
