Rorschacherberg

The castle of Schloss Wartegg was built in 1557 by Caspar Blarer von Wartensee above the southern shore of Lake Constance. His Renaissance palace was extended significantly three times: in 1676, 1860 and 1930; its life as an aristocratic residence finally came to an end with Zita, the last empress of Austria.
In 1994 Schloss Wartegg was reborn as a hotel, following a sensitive and re - strained conversion that enhanced the preserved fabric of the castle with traditional materials and natural fabrics, making a clear use of forms. A strong sense of nature exists within the hotel, too: particularly in the close col laboration between the castle’s garden and the top-class kitchen.
