The history of the Monte Rosa goes back to the very earliest days of alpine tourism, and the hotel still breathes all the charm of those pioneering years – without being a museum piece.

As one of the Seiler Hotels, its comfortable rooms meet the most exacting standards. The pine-panelled Arvenstube, the Whympersalon (Edward Whymper, the British climber who conquered the Matterhorn in 1865, stayed here) and the Salon bleu all exude a cosy welcome, as does the Mont - rose Bar, with its Scottish feel; while the hundred-year-old dining room, one of the most beautiful in the Alps, serves exquisite gourmet dinners.
